I learned how to quill paper when I was a young girl. Thinking my daughters might be interested, I recently bought a kit. But, I find I am the one using it. Today I am sharing how I made paper beads for earrings. The Best Glue Ever and the No-Clog cap together make forming the beads so easy by applying small amounts of glue.
materials
Materials:
- strips of scrapbooking paper
- Quilling tool (Cricut)
- jewelry findings
- the Best Glue Ever
Directions:
To begin I chose coordinating scrapbook papers and cut very thin strips, about 1/8″ wide.
Using 2 1/2″ strips (12″ long) of coordinating paper, I rolled a coil with a slight dome shape. Gluing as needed when adding new strips of paper. You will need two of these for each bead. Notice the light blue paper in the middle.
To join the two pieces together, I coated the inside of the coiled pieces to hold the coiling in place as well as joining the two pieces together.
To finish off the bead, I wrapped a dark blue strip of paper around the joining seam.
To finish them off I added small coordinating beads and jewelry findings. They are each a little different from each other. I have already planned to make more. This next time I am going to try varying widths of paper to make a solid bead that doesn’t need each half joined together but I would make the bead in one go. We’ll have to see how that works out and which is better.
