It has been a while since I used alcohol inks on a tile. This tile is a little different in that I also stamped on top of the alcohol ink blended background. The Perfect Crafting Pouch really came in handy. Read through the post to see a few errors I made with the final coating and the recommendations to fix them.

Materials Used:
Alcohol Ink – 4 colors
Stazon Pigment Ink
Flower stamp
tile
cosmetic sponge
rubbing alcohol
Directions:
After using the Mod Podge, the ink started to crackle. It was a really fun effect but not what I was going for. So, I cleaned off the tile and reworked it from the beginning.
This is the reworked tile, it is a bit darker than the first version.
To finish it off, I am going to use 2 part resin.

Another fail, or lesson learned. The resin is eating away the color. Look at the difference!
Here is the tile completely dry with the resin coating. The background effect is really cool and it is interesting to see how the color moved on the tile. The ink from the red family is almost totally gone but the blue remains. I am sure there is some scientific reason for this, but I am not aware of it. I kind of like it although it isn’t what I was going for as a result.
Results:
So what I have learned: The Perfect Crafting Pouch definitely helps when stamping on a slick tile. Don’t use Mod Podge or Resin directly on alcohol ink. I asked around in an alcohol ink community and found that I need to spray the tile with Kamar and then with UV protectant. After using those two sprays, I can finish off with resin. I hope my experiments are helpful for you so that you don’t have the same errors (or lessons learned) that I did.
