Deborah here, and today I want to share the start of a mini album using Eileen Hull’s Journal die from Sizzix all put together with the Best Glue Ever.
Every year Shimelle runs her online “Learn Something New Every Day” class. I’ve been participating in it for the past five years or so, and I always make a mini album with the express purpose of using up supplies — particularly old supplies. My goal is to buy absolutely nothing for this project.
To start, I used the die to cut both the pattern paper I wanted for the covers and the mat board. With this die, you really need to cut the paper as well, if you plan on covering the entire mat board. See those vertical score/cut lines? They work great for folding, but not if your paper isn’t cut/scored as well. Trust me…..
Here’s a tip for large areas that need glue: use a foam brush. I buy a lot when Michaels has them on sale for 10 for $1, so I don’t mind using them once for glue then tossing them out. Since this is a book cover that’s going to get handled a lot, I wanted to make sure I had glue on the entire piece of paper. I used the foam brush to spread the Best Glue Ever over the entire mat board in a thin layer. After placing my paper down I used a brayer to roll it smooth.
Then, it was time for embellishments and my title — wooden stars, old stickers, plastic alphas and more. All of these got a little dab of the Best Glue Ever — even the stickers. I am confidant that nothing is going to fall off this cover! The only thing I didn’t glue down was the wonky metal flower.
