Now I can’t take full credit for this idea, I had seen it first on Pinterest, and thought I would give it go, as my hubby has rolls of velcro tape in his garage stash and I wanted to end the frustration of searching through a desk organizer drawer to find the “right” sponge for the “right” ink. I mean how so frustrating can that be?
As I began this project, I found multiples of the same colors on a few sponges or even “mixed” colors on the sponges. Along with that, I found a few that the backing that actually attached to the velcro’d blending tool, had started to separate from the sponge.
Pair these things with the fact that I am not to fully trusting of some pre-adhesive backed tapes & the like, I pulled out my trusted tried & true favorite glue, the Best Glue Ever, to use on the velcro tape & to make repairs.
As for the sponges that were multiply inked up, they went for a bath, and have been reserved as “extra’s”, as needed.
The first thing I did in this process, was cut the velcro tape in around 1/4 inch squares, once I removed the backing from the velcro tape, I added a very light dollop of the
Best Glue Ever, and let each piece sit for 5 or 6 minutes before attaching it to the underside of the ink pads. I also let them sit for a short time after adding them, before adding my blending sponges.
In addition to using the Best Glue Ever on the velcro tape, I also used it to re-attach the original backing on the sponges that were losing their backing. For the ones to far damaged, I chose to use another form of velcro (the softer loop) and used the
Best Glue Ever to secure it in place.
As you see, the Best Glue Ever can be used on a variety of surfaces, and will lend to a lasting hold.
