To begin, I covered the bird body with white heavy gesso. Once dry I used a gel medium, to adhere shabby rose printed tissue paper, randomly over the body. I then used a thin jute, to cover the bird legs only, and secured it with the Best Glue Ever.
Now every bird needs feathers, so I used white feathers around the “stand” behind the legs, and also used them to create wings, along with small, gold paint tipped leaves as the wing base. I used the Best Glue Ever to adhere them together.
For the sort of whimsical embellishment, the crown, I chose teardrop pearl trim, cut to an inch & one quarter, as the crown base, and used fabric stiffener, to aid in stability. Once dried, I used the Best Glue Ever & Embellie Gellie to add dew drops as the jewels in the crown, followed by a miniature resin rose, and an inner feather crown.
The “fabulous” embellishment under the bird, was made by layering the flower & sentiment cabochon on small feathers, which was also glued together and on the base, with the Best Glue Ever.
*Handy tip: when adding embellishments of any sort to my projects, I have found by waiting a few moments (10 minutes or so) after applying the Best Glue Ever to the base in which I am applying them to, it becomes an instant tack for adding embellishments, with no fuss or mess. GREAT GLUE!
