If you’re like me you have quite a pile of patterned paper scraps. Actually, I’ve got a pizza box full of them (well, just the smaller pieces). I thought I’d try and use up some of my scraps, so I grabbed a few sheets of printer paper and my bottle of the Best Glue Ever.
I went through my box of scraps and grabbed a good handful of paper, like this:
I cut half-inch strips from the papers. I wasn’t trying to use up all of the paper so I cut from one to three strips per sheet.
Next, I grabbed a piece of printer paper and made thin lines with the Best Glue Ever, making sure to cover the edges. Once the paper had adhesive covering it, I randomly grabbed strips and started adhereing them to the paper. When I completed one piece of paper I grabbed another!
When I was finished I had three completed sheets –
Now, I can use these whole, in pieces, to punch shapes from or die cut. Want to add more? You can paint, stamp, stitch, add rub-ons, etc. as well.
I took one of the papers and cut strips to make a chevron pattern. I like the kind of homemade quilt look I got with this — there’s no deliberate pattern to the strips. After playing with my strips, I adhered them to another scrap of paper trimmed to 8.5 x 11, using the Best Glue Ever.
And then I had the start of a layout. With a bit more paper, embellishments, and a photo I was done.
