I found a hardcover book at the local library’s book sale – pretty reasonable at $2. I’d been looking for a book to recycle as a journal. But once you take the book jacket off, the covers are pretty plain. However, not for long…
I picked up an unfinished wooden frame at Michael’s a while back. It was chipped on one side, but I figured I could cut the frame and just use part of it. To decorate the wood, I first treated it with the Perfect Crafting Pouch then stamped repeatedly with several background stamps and archival ink.
On the cover I took a black pen and wrote “art journal” over and over and decided to try out a new bottle of Mica Gloss. Then I adhered a piece of scrapbook paper with the Best Glue Ever, cut to fit the “inside” of the frame. Next I used the Best Glue Ever to adhere the wooden frame and added a few highlights with a bit of blue paint.
I’m really happy with my new non-boring cover!
