Michelle here with you today to share with you a how to on adding texture & a pop of shine to create a fabulous background for your next altered canvas project, using ScraPerfect Best Glue Ever & Transfer Foils.
To begin, I chose a 5×7 pre-gessoed canvas panel as my background base and adding a 2×2 mini canvas & a 2×4 mini canvas panel, for the centerpieces for this project.
I used a gel medium on all three canvas’s, to adhere tissue paper to the largest panel and to add sheet music and text patterned tissue on the mini canvas’s as a collage. While adding the tissue paper on the 5×7 panel, I “crinkled” it as I was applying it to the surface.
Using my hole punch tool, I pre-punched holes in the 2×4 mini panel before adding paper & tissue, to later add copper metallic brads. I also used some texture paste along with a stencil, to add further texture to the 5×7 canvas.
Once the gel medium had set, I used a variety of metallic/pearl powders randomly over the main panel, in shades of pearl and jade, activating each with water to create splotches and drips.
Now for the really good stuff, the Best Glue Ever & Transfer Foils, working together to add some pop to the design. I applied the Best Glue Ever in random area’s, including the stenciled surfaces, and lightly spread it, and let it set bout 10 minutes, to a good tack before adding the Transfer Foils.
I chose the black & copper Transfer Foils for this project, cutting small pieces from the each sheet, and placing them on the BGE areas, using a popsicle stick to apply like applying a rub-on transfer. I also used this same technique to add some of the copper Transfer Foil to the mini canvas’s as well.
I added Scrabble tiles spelling the word “FLY” to the mini canvas pane. To the Square mini canvas, l added shimmer ink sprayed chipboard vine designs and a “Frozen Charlotte” & wing embellishments to the square mini panel using the Best Glue Ever to adhere it all into place. Lastly, I used the Best Glue Ever, to add the mini’s to the 5×7 base panel.
