Creating Clean Heat Embossed Backgrounds Using ScraPerfect’s Perfect Crafting Pouch

Hi Everyone, It’s Renee’ with Delaney Jane Cards. This month I’ve been playing with lots of background techniques in my craftroom. I found the perfect way to get a nice clean heat embossed background using a stencil and the ScraPerfect Perfect Crafting Pouch.

First, I want to share a secret with you. I absolutely hate touching the “from the chain store” embossing bag. It makes my skin crawl and I find it dries my fingers out. Over time I had cheated and tried to get away with not using the powder bag or I applied a clip to the bag so I didn’t have to touch it.

The ScraPerfect Perfect Crafting Pouch has this awesome ribbon handle on it and it keeps my fingers away from the drying powder. The powder is what takes the static off your paper, so the powder is a good thing but I do not like touching it. So this has been an extra bonus for me, personally. (It is also designed with a liner to limit contact with hands!)

Another thing I’ve noticed in the last 5 months since I have been using it, I get the best heat embossed sentiments and images ever. I rarely, if ever, have any stray embossing powder pieces on my paper.

With this in mind, I wanted to emboss a background through a stencil. It is an intricate stencil and getting really crisp lines is important for a design like this. The ScraPerfect Perfect Crafting Pouch was my secret weapon!

Here is a quick rundown of how I created the background for an upcoming project on my YouTube channel.

1. I used the ScraPerfect Perfect Crafting Pouch and dusted over the entire piece of cardstock. I made sure to cover the entire piece. Although the powder may be visible, it wipes clean after the embossing is complete.

2. I placed my stencil over the cardstock. I used some repositionable spray to make sure the stencil was adhered and didn’t lift. Side note: The powder form the Perfect Crafting Pouch did not effect the way this stencil adhered. No issues with anything seeping under the stencil. And maybe I should have tried wiping on a thin layer of the Best Glue Ever instead of the spray to create the light tack I needed. Hmmm.)

3. I applied a clear sticky ink to the paper through the stencil by rubbing the ink pad over the stencil. Again, the powder did not effect the way the stencil was adhered. I have found with other embossing powder bags that nothing sticks until you wipe it clean. This was not the case.

4. I peeled the stencil off the cardstock and revealed the sticky ink. I was nervous the pixie spray I used would make the embossing powder stick where I didn’t want it to.

5. I applied my embossing powder to the panel.

6. I made sure the panel was covered in a nice even layer. The powder only stuck to the design! The ScraPerfect Perfect Crafting Pouch had done it’s job. And had done it well!!!

7. I heated the panel with my heat gun. I was still really in shock that the ScraPerfect Perfect Crafting Pouch had done such an amazing job. I’ve been using it for months but I didn’t think laying it down and using the adhesive spray over it, it would still work so well.

8. The final panel is perfect. Clean embossing through a stencil.

I am absolutely a fan of this ScraPerfect Perfect Crafting Pouch. I’ve used several static reducing powder tools over the years. BY FAR, this is the best I’ve ever used.

Thank you for stopping by and I’d absolutely stand behind this pouch! It is my go-to in my craftroom.

Have you used this embossing tool? You know it does more than help with embossing right? I’m sure we will have to touch base on this soon…

Thank you for stopping by and I always say,
Give Cards Generously!
