I make two mini albums each year, one of which is a December Daily / Journal Your Christmas album. Since it’s Christmas, I like to go all out for my cover. This year I started with a Simple Stories chevron album and a leftover piece of chipboard.
I cut the chipboard with Tim Holtz’s Ornamental die by Sizzix for my background piece and painted it black. On top of that I layered several pieces from Wilna Furstenberg’s Heartfelt Christmas. I used the Best Glue Ever to attach everything to the album and to each other.
I added slightly larger drops of glue to the ends of the long leaves so I could adhere them securely to the burlap album cover. Since the cover gets a lot of use, this will help keep them from being mangled.
Once I’d adhered the two cut outs, I looked around for other items to layer on top. I wanted something large enough to cover where the two pieces were joined.
I had a red felt snowflake ornament laying around. Perfect! I used a few very generous drops of the Best Glue Ever to adhere — felt will absorb your glue so don’t be afraid to use a bit more.
Here’s my album cover. I added a few stick pins into the felt and I’m looking for a few numbers I like to add this year, but I’m really happy with how this turned out.
