I was very excited to learn that the ScraPerfect Design Team was going to be given the opportunity to work with products from The Robin’s Nest! Each of our designers was allowed to choose from the wide selection of papers and embellishments offered at the online store and we will be sharing our projects over the next 2 weeks!
Christmas is just around the corner, so I thought I would start things off with a very simple card. The Santa I used for the focal point of this card is actually printed on canvas! The Christmas Canvas set is available from The Robin’s Nest and contains 3 different images, all with a holiday theme.
The first step was to cut the canvas with Spellbinder’s Labels One die, adding a combination of Tea Dye and Tattered Rose Distress Inks to the edges to soften the stark black & white color scheme. I also cut a mat from black paper and embossed and sanded the edges, revealing the white core. The sanding created a bit of a mess so I quickly cleaned things up with a swipe of the Perfect Cleaning Cloth!
To adhere the canvas to the matching die cut mat, I reached for my bottle of The Best Glue Ever. I have been disappointed with other adhesives I have used in the past – they appeared to work with fabric, but actually ended up not creating a permanent bond. I hate it when I think I am finished with a project and the elements start to peel off! That never happens with The Best Glue Ever – it dries quickly and works so well with a variety of materials, including fabric and paper.
The background of the card is a tone-on-tone, rustic, red plaid which is found on the reverse side of the Red Snowflakes paper. You can see I scored and sanded around the edges to reveal the white core. Good thing I kept the Perfect Cleaning Cloth handy!
Next I inked the edge of the sentiment, which is actually a sticker from the Christmas Sayings sticker set, and popped it up on a piece of chipboard. I tied a button with some twine, glued it in place, and adhered the entire assembly to a black cardstock base.
Thank you so much to Rachel at The Robin’s Nest for generously sharing her products with us!
I hope you will come back tomorrow for some inspiration from our very own Robyn – Robyn Coburn!
Thanks for stopping by!
