Embellishing a Sketchbook Journal

Hey, it’s Deborah here. For this week’s project I used Eileen Hull’s brand spankin’ new Journal XL die to make a travel sketchbook. I wanted to share how I embellished the cover of the journal.  To start I collaged a variety of paper and washi tape onto the mat board cover, then used a Tim Holtz stencil with Dylusions paint. Once the paint was dry, I grabbed an illustration from an old Paper Source desk calendar, a vintage photo, washi tape, some Tim Holtz metal embellishments and the Best Glue Ever.  How’s that for recycling!
The Best Glue Ever is my number one go-to adhesive. It works brilliantly with any kind of surface, especially hard-to-adhere items like metal charms.  See the washi tape on the spine? I used it there, too.  Washi tape is notorious for come unstuck in the blink of an eye.
