Here’s a fun way to add interest to your background — ScraPerfect’s Designer Transfer Foil and some multicolored leafing!
I used my Silhouette to cut out a variety of heart shapes from a scrap piece of paper to use as a stencil. This is a great way to use up those odds and ends you have laying around, or use a larger piece of paper you’re no longer in love with to cover the entire background.
After placing them on my cardstock I used a foam brush to loosely apply the Best Glue Ever over the heart stencils. For this project I wasn’t concerned with being exact or staying within the hearts.
Since the Best Glue Ever dries quick and tacky it’s perfect for both foiling and using leafing. I grabbed a blue sheet ScraPerfect’s foil and lightly used it over the stenciled area. I used the foil first since the leafing will completely cover any remaining glue.
Then I shook some leafing onto my project. This color is “royal peacock” and it has gorgeous coppers, blues, and golds.
With a stiff brush I first brushed the leafing into the glue and then used a stronger motion to burnish and brush off the extra leaf. You can resued any leaf that didn’t stick by carefully shaking it back into the container.
And here’s my background – hearts, but more of an abstracted heart design. I left an area blank in the middle where I knew I’d be placing my photograph.
I layered another cut out, doily, some scrap paper and embellishments on top of the foiled/leafed design. And the finished project —
