How to Adhere Embellishments on Pocket Pages

I love using pocket page for holdings mementos. I also prefer to keep my tickets as they were — so no stamping or embellishments directly on them, which makes pocket pages the perfect background to hold this postcard and tickets (and if I messed up the Hamilton ticket my 13 year old would kill me).

So today, I’m starting with a pocket page protector, ephemera, sticker, stamps and wooden embellishments — all held together with the Best Glue Ever.

One of my go-to techniques is adhering stickers, tags and
embellishments on top of the protector. The Best Glue Ever makes this
super easy. I use it for everything — even self adhesive stickers. I
don’t want to open my scrapbook in a year and find embellishments have
fallen off.

When I’m putting together a pocket scrapbook page, I first decide where my big items are going and stick them in a pocket. For this page I have photos, postcards and tickets.  Next I go through my stash of patterned paper and pocket page cards to find colors and themes that complement my items.  I have *ahem* quite an amount of monthly pocket page kits from several monthly kit clubs, which not only saves time but makes coordinating easy.  After I’m satisfied it’s on to adding embellishments here are there to finish the page.

I decided to add several wooden embellishments to these paper tags.   You only need a few tiny drops of the Best Glue Ever. I start with a few drops on the piece, as in the photo below.  When I have a piece with small real estate, like this word, I’ll often take my finger and lightly spread the glue on the back of the piece from here before applying.

I also decided to add some stickers and embellishments on the outside of the pocket.  This way I keep my original ticket from having a sticker permanently adhered. Even though the sticker is adhesive I always add the Best Glue Ever before applying. The sticker’s adhesive won’t hold up on the exterior of a pocket page on it’s own.
And if you make a mistake? You’ll need the Best Cleaner Ever. I grabbed an everyday pen and wrote out a journaling card, forgetting to test the ink first.  When I stuck it into the pocket, the ink smeared all over the card as well as the pocket.
To fix, I lightly sprayed the Best Cleaner Ever on the Perfect Cleaning Cloth and carefully wiped the inside of the pocket.  Since the cleaner is an oil, I needed to make sure I had all the cleaner wiped out of the pocket before putting another piece of paper in there. I used a slightly damp towel followed by a dry one to ensure all the cleaner was removed.  I keep a cloth on my desk that’s dedicated just to stamp cleaning.

And speaking of stamping, I decided to add a bit of stamping to several of the paper tags.  I picked up one of the Tim Holtz Tonic stamp platforms, which makes stamping much more fun (really!).  After lining my tag and stamps up on the platform, I treat the tag with the Perfect Crafting Pouch prior to stamping, which helps me achieve a crisp image. Living the dream? Why yes, thank you 😉

And yes, using ScraPefect products really makes me happy….
