How to Easily Apply Foil to Foam

Hi There,
It’s Karen here…to share how to transform plain embellishments with ScraPerfect Transfer Foils. Take inexpensive embellishments and jazz them up by adding your own foil accents. Chipboard, stickers, or die cuts can easily be made to dazzle and shine with metallic wonderfulness beyond just silver or gold.   Transfer Foils come in a rainbow of colors to suit any project.  The possibilities are limitless!

Use the foils along with the Best Glue Ever and the No Clog Writing Cap.  This tool is allows you to perfectly control the application of
glue so that you can add superb details to plain embellishments or apply a light coating of glue and cover an entire shape with foil.  The large red heart (upper left) was an inexpensive foam shape from a kid’s craft set.

Directions:
1.  Remove the paper backing (release paper) from the back of the foam heart.  All the foils are dull grey on the back and colored on the reverse side.  When applying foil, the adhesive should always be touching the dull grey side of the foil.  Turn the foil so that the red side is on the table top and the dull grey side is facing up.  Carefully place the heart on the foil close to the edge to make good use of the foil.

2.  Rub down along the whole surface of the heart using the ball of your finger with medium pressure. (15 secs) Flip over the foil and continue rubbing the red side.  Next, peel the foil off the foam heart.

A Closer Look:

SURFACE COMPARISON:  I did plan on using the Best Glue Ever but when I discovered that the heart was self-adhesive, I decided to try the pre-existing adhesive first.  Here are the results from another heart using a thinly spread layer of the Best Glue Ever.

Apply a small amount of Best Glue Ever to a heart and spread it with a finger.  The glue dries clear yet tacky in 2-3 minutes.  Next,
place the heart onto the dull grey side of the foil and rub firmly using the ball of the finger.

Remove the foil to reveal the transformation.  Please note that this heart was not foam and had a subtle texture to it.  Therefore, the foil did not apply perfectly evenly as it did on the foam surface and left a more distressed/scratchy effect on this heart.

Other Supplies:
pattern paper / red & brown card stock, white gel pen, clear medium, craft knife
embellishments – foam heart, spoon, fork, wooden hearts
