Hi All-
Amy here with an answer to a phone query about gluing thin paper together such as Newspaper. Perry, from NJ, called on our toll-free number saying he tried ZIP DRY™ and ELMERS™ and had bad and dismal results with wrinkles and bleeding through. He wanted to know about ScraPerfect’s BEST GLUE EVER. I offered to give this a try and video tape my process. Watch the video to see two different ways —but be sure NOT to turn it off prior to 4 minutes!
After using ScraPerfect’s Best Glue Ever™, the bond is PERMANENT! SEE? The paper fibers tears as the two sheets can NOT be pulled apart! |
After using ScraPerfect’s Best Glue Ever™to bond two sheets of newsprint together: NO WRINKLES, NO BUBBLES, NO BLEEDING THROUGH! |
HOW? Really simple with ScraPerfect’s Best Glue Ever™and some very simple tips. Watch the video:) |
Perry explained that he needed to adhere very thin newsprint paper to itself and wanted it to be permanent. Though I’ve glued newspaper to cardstock with great success, and vellum, mulberry paper, and even tissue paper, too, I’ve never tried gluing thin paper to itself.
I usually use the technique of applying the glue and letting it dry to clear and tacky before adhering. This process is great for fabric and ribbon, too, as it minimizes bleed. It is a less permanent bond; however, it’s not usually not a concern in cards and layouts because the papers will never simply fall apart even if they can be pulled apart with effort. Perry needed the adherence to be absolutely permanent.
OOH! HEY! Use the same technique with sheet music and dictionary pages for wrinkle-free, no-bleed, perfect bonding!
