Tell us about yourself.
I live in Northern Virginia with my husband of 20 years and our 3 kids (ages 13 to 18), a dog, a guinea pig, and a turtle. My favorite TV shows are Glee, American Idol and The Mentalist. I recently took an online Digital Photography class so I could take my Olympus E-500 off of automatic – learned lots but still trying to master shooting on manual. I love to read and just started the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. I started scrapbooking about 5 years ago when a friend invited me to a Creative Memories crop and I haven’t looked back. I am usually a pretty slow scrapper. I like to try new techniques. I am a paper addict and a tool junkie.
What’s your style? What do you like to create and what’s your favorite item to use?
I suppose I would call my style traditional…with texture! I love adding dimension and detail to a piece…but my layers tend to be very tailored. I love patterned paper. One of my strengths is probably my ability to mix patterns, but it is also one of my weaknesses. I admire designers who are able to use “open space” on their pages, but blank cardstock is just not something you are going to find very often in my projects. I love making layouts and dimensional displays like shadow boxes or exploding boxes.
What’s your favorite snack while creating?
I am fueled by Diet Coke. My go-to snack is usually M&M’s.
If you could visit one place, where would you go?
If I won the lottery I would spend the money on travel and scuba diving adventures all over the world. My husband and I recently watched a program on the National Geographic Channel that bumped The Galapagos Islands to the very top of my bucket list! (Note to self: go buy a lottery ticket today…)
Favorite guilty pasttime?
OMG…my oldest son would be so embarrassed that I am “outing myself”…I sometimes…play…Farmville.
(Although, truthfully, this was practically a tie with my other guilty pastime of re-reading the really juicy parts in the Twilight series!)
