The Embellie Gellie is the ideal tool for itsy bitsy embellishments like gems. It also makes crafting with fragile die cuts so much easier. I no longer have to struggle to pick up items with my fingernails. Embellie Gellie is perfect for selecting, transporting, and placing an item exactly where I want it, accurately and without damaging it. If you avoid using small or fragile bits on your projects because it is frustrating to adhere them, then the Embellie Gellie is the solution.

Embellie Gellie FAQs

After it’s been used, should I put it back in the box, toss it, or keep it on the wand?

We recommend just leaving the pearl of Gellie on the wand and keeping it close by at all times! Most people store the wand Gellie end up in a cup with their tools by their work table. It won’t get hard or stringy or turn bad from being exposed to the air. But if you want to take it off and store it in the box that’s fine, too.

When it becomes too dirty to pick up well, toss it and replace it with another small piece.

Any other tips you can share?

•  Mold the pearl to a pointy tip to make picking up teeny-weeny items even easier.
•  Put the Gellie on the flat end of the stick . Use the pointy end for nudging embellies, if necessary.
•  Use toothpicks if you want to share some Gellie with your friends, or buy them a box of their own. (They’ll LOVE you!)
• Transferring embellishments from the wand to the Best Glue Ever™ is even easier if you let the glue dry a little bit to become tackier. Isn’t it nice to know there’s no reason to rush?!?

Do I need any special tools to use it?

Use the wand provided in the package. If you want to share some, your friends can use other applicators such as a sturdy toothpick or even a pencil–until they buy their own box!

Does it dry out in the package?

Nope. It doesn’t crack, shrink or change in any way.

Does it really work this well?

Yup! Read the Craft Test Dummies Review.

How can I get it out of the carpet?

Remove as much as you can with your fingers. (Then you could try ScraPerfect’s Best Cleaner Ever™, but always test in an inconspicuous place!)

How do I store it?

The best place to store it is where you won’t lose it! Although temperature doesn’t seem to affect the Gellie, subjecting it to freezing or intense heat doesn’t seem like a great idea.

How do you actually use the stuff? Is it difficult to use?

It’s really easy!  If embellishments don’t “release” to your adhesive, try rolling them off the wand as opposed to lifting straight up, use a finger on your other hand to hold it while you lift the stick, or use a tackier adhesive. (If you are using the Best Glue Ever™, let the glue set a just little while and it gets tackier!)

  1. Mold a pearl-sized ball of Embellie Gellie on the wand for easy pick-up and precise placement of small embellishments.
  2. Gently touch the Gellie to the embellishment –the less pressure the better!
  3. Put adhesive on project where you want the embellishment to be. (Use the Best Glue Ever, of course!)
  4. Touch embellishment to adhesive to transfer embellishment from less-tacky Gellie to the stickier adhesive.

How is this different from the plastic pen thingy or other pickup tools ?

Obviously, Embellie Gellie is better:)

Embellie Gellie is stable in all temperatures, leaves no residue, works equally well on chunky items as on thin paper die cuts, and has minimal packaging which you can reuse to store little items such as razor blades or medicine.

The “pen dispenser”, sold by a die cutter company, is great for picking up paper die cuts, but isn’t well designed for other embellishments. The sticky filling reacts to changes in temperature (becoming stretchy in hot weather has difficulty picking up embellishments in cold weather) and leaves a film on swarovski crystals. Most people also find it difficult to dispense, and wasteful because when it gets wiggley on the tip they pull it off and throw it away, needing to dispense more (Then there’s the non-refillable plastic pen you toss in the trash when it’s empty.)

Some other tools have a VERY sticky or waxy tip to pick up embellishments. Often these are TOO sticky which makes transferring the embellishment a challenge. These also often leave a residue. In addition, they have a limited lifespan so that when the tackiness wears off, it no linger works..

How long does one “pearl” of Gellie last?

Several weeks to many months or years. When eventually, it is too grungy or covered with glitter to be tacky enough, you can either knead it in, or just toss it and take another small piece from the box.

How long will this little box last?

A VERY LONG TIME!

Since one “pearl” lasts from several weeks to many months or longer, and there’s a boxful of  little “pearls”… well you do the math. Honestly, you might never need to buy another box for yourself, but it makes a clever little gift for your friends!

Is the Gellie non-toxic?

Absolutely! You can even use it when decorating cookies, cakes, and confections!

It looks like braces wax. Can I just use orthodontic or bees wax?

Not recommended, but you could. Although waxes pick up your embellishments, they are often too tacky to release them easily. In addition, waxes often leave a filmy residue on your embellishments.

Embellie Gellie™ is the perfect tackiness to be strong enough to pick up chunky charms, yet releases even lightweight confetti with ease. And it leaves no waxy residue, either!

What if my dog gets into it?

The Gellie itself is non-toxic, but the plastic box will definitely be an issue, and a large mass of Gellie could pose a choking hazard for both pets and children.

Why is this better than tweezers?

Tweezers can mar some embellishments like vellum letters, textured cardstock, or shiny papers. And many of us have issues with beads and gems “popping” out of the tweezers. These are non-issues with Embellie Gellie!

Do you have the same tweezer issue as I do? (Start at 20 seconds…)
