Hello everyone, Kim Lippincott here today for ScraPerfect. If you are like me, time is something we don’t get enough of during the holiday season. When I wrap gifts for Christmas, I like to use pretty handmade tags since I feel like the store bought ones don’t have enough writing space. I needed to replenish my stash of tags this year, and was able to make them super fast with the help of a couple of products from ScraPerfect. Here are just a few:
To make a big bunch of these tags, I recommend gathering your materials and doing them mass production style in steps. So to get started, you will need holiday patterned card stock, light colored card stock, scissors, ribbon, twine or string, a bottle of the Best Glue Ever with the large No Clog Writing Cap on it, small embellishments like dew drops, buttons, or sequins, holiday sentiment stamps, ink pads, foam adhesive dots, Embellie Gellie, and a hole punch.
The first step is to cut as many pieces of card stock in tag shapes as you need and then punch holes in the top. Next, I swiped all of mine with a coordinating color of ink to distress a bit. The second step is to stamp all of your sentiments on a light colored card stock and then cut all of those out. To make my tags different lengths, I tore off some of the bottoms of a few tags, swiped those with ink, and saved the torn pieces to use later. Now it is time to build your tags and get your sentiments on them. I did this in different ways, some were directly attached while others were done so in layers. I used the
Best Glue Ever to secure my sentiments to the tags and when making layers, also used foam dots for dimension. I used the torn off pieces as part of my layers here and they came out cute when the papers coordinated.
The next step is to embellish and I wanted to keep this simple as I was making quite a few tags. I used a variety of things to add a little something to my tags, including: Dew Drops, buttons, ribbon, lace trim, and flatback pearl trim. What’s awesome is that the
Best Glue Ever was the only adhesive I needed for all of those different materials! So I continued to embellish each tag in all different ways. When applying the smaller items like the Dew Drops, I used some
Embellie Gellie to place them perfectly the first time. I love this product as it saves time and stops me from getting glue on my fingers!
Once all of your tags are embellished, the final step is to put your ribbon, twine, or string through the holes so they can be tied on your gifts. I set them aside to dry before putting them on my packages. I enjoy using handmade tags on my gifts. I make some pretty enough that they can be hung on the tree after the gift is open too! The process of making these tags is one that can be done quickly too when you mass produce them in an hour or two. I sit where I can see our Christmas tree and listen to holiday music while I make my tags to add to the festive atmosphere. Here are some photos of some of my tags, I hope you like them!
I hope you will head over to
