How many of you have had the unpleasant experience of walking up to your car and discovering you parked under a drippy pine tree? This happened to me a week ago.
Mine was especially bad because I was in a hurry and didn’t realize that the spots on my window were globs of sticky sap. So, I turned on the windshield wipers to clean it off ……. big mistake. Huge. There’s nothing like smearing smaller sap globs into large streaks on your windshield and wipers. Sigh….
Let me add, I was just starting a 10 hour drive back from a workshop. As I got close to my house I went straight through the local car wash, which did nothing to the sap. When I got back home, this is what I saw – pine needles all in the well below the wipers, dots on the hood of my car and sap all over the roof.
Not a fun sight. Here’s a typical streak on the window to show you what I was dealing with. This pine sap glob landed just above the wipers.
After expressing my dismay in not-too-nice language, I went inside and grabbed my bottle of the Best Cleaner Ever and a large micro fiber cloth. I decided to apply the Best Cleaner Ever directly to the cloth and start wiping it over the sap.
I was astounded by how fast the cleaner worked to remove the sap. Just a few minutes for each spot. I tried to take a video with my phone, but it was hard to stand on a step-stool, hold the phone steady while cleaning the car. It didn’t really help that my car is white, either.
Once I finished cleaning the glue I used another part of the cloth to wipe the excess cleaner off the area. I did take it back through the car (after these photos) to make sure I’d gotten all the cleaner off the car. While it’s safe for the paint, it’s not a streak-free window cleaner!
But I do have a few before and after pictures. This spot below had a nice covering of dirt added to the sap.
And this is the sun roof before…..
And about half-way done…
Needless to say, I am very pleased with The Best Cleaner Ever and I plan to add a second bottle in the garage alongside my car-cleaning supplies.
