Hi there, Kim here today to share a quick and easy ornament project for your Christmas tree. I saw this posted on Facebook by The Blogette and was inspired to add a twist and try them myself. My ornaments would not have been nearly as sturdy or pretty if I hadn’t used the Best Glue Ever from
ScraPerfect. Here is how my ornaments turned out, hope you like them!
All you need to make these cuties are some buttons, string, and the amazing Best Glue Ever. I used little wooden spools as the base for mine from my stash, but the originals were done with brown buttons. So gather these supplies and you are ready to make your own:
The first thing I did was to put some of the Best Glue Ever on the tops of my spools and let it dry for a few minutes while I sized the buttons I was going to use. Then I added my first large button and put the adhesive on the next button.
NOTE: Make sure you have a No Clog Writing Cap on your bottle of the Best Glue Ever for this project! If you use too much adhesive, the buttons will slip off and get messy. I also suggest waiting for a few minutes between adding each button until the Best Glue Ever gets tacky. I made quite a few of these at the same time and staggered the gluing time so I wasn’t sitting idle.
At this point, I just repeated the process and continued attaching more buttons, gradually getting smaller in size.
Once you are done building your tree, it is time to attach something to hang your ornament with. I used seam binding and the Best Glue Ever on mine and then waited a few hours before adding a decorative button for the top of the tree. I also decided to embellish my wooden spools by adding some trims around the middle. I used sequin trim, braided trim, and crochet lace trim from my stash, but you can use anything on hand. I also added a tassel to hang down from the bottom of my wooden spool too. I love how versatile these are since you can use whatever color buttons match your style or holiday decor. Here is how they turned out again:
